The best Diwali wishes for customers are short, personal and grateful: the customer’s name, a thank-you for their trust, a warm festive wish and your business name. For example: “Dear Meera, thank you for choosing Shree Textiles this year. Wishing you and your family a Diwali full of light. — Team Shree Textiles.” Festive season is the one time of year when a WhatsApp message from a business feels welcome rather than intrusive, as long as it reads like it came from a person. This guide gives you 70 original Diwali and Navratri wishes for customers that you can copy, personalise and send. They come in English, Hindi and Gujarati, and are grouped by what you want the message to do.
You also get the 2026 festival dates, the template rules Meta applies to festive messages, and a worked cost table that uses Meta’s official India rate card. That last part changes this year: from 1 October 2026, Meta starts charging for business replies inside the 24-hour customer service window, so the replies your Diwali campaign triggers are no longer automatically free.
Key takeaways
- Dates: Sharad Navratri is 11–19 October 2026, Dussehra is 20 October, and Diwali is Sunday 8 November 2026.

What makes a good festive wish for customers?
A festive wish for customers is a short, personalised greeting a business sends to people who have chosen to hear from it. It thanks them, wishes them well for the festival, and only then, if at all, makes one clear offer. Messages that follow that order feel like a note from a shop you know. Messages that lead with a discount code feel like spam, and on WhatsApp people can block a business in two taps.
Four things separate a good festive message from a forgettable one:
- The customer’s name in the first line. In a WhatsApp template this is a variable,
{{1}}, filled from your contact list. - Gratitude that is specific. “Thank you for your orders this year” beats “Thank you for your support”.
- One idea per message. A greeting or an offer or an invitation. If you have two things to say, send two messages on different days.
- Your business name at the end, so the message is recognisable in a crowded chat list.
The 2026 festive calendar for businesses
The table below maps each festival to what customers expect and the template category you’ll need.
| Festival (2026) | Date | What to send | Best timing | Meta category |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Sharad Navratri | Sun 11 Oct – Mon 19 Oct | Opening greeting, garba/event invites, nine-night offers | Evening of day 1; offers mid-week | Marketing |
| Dussehra (Vijayadashami) | Tue 20 Oct | Short greeting, "new beginnings" purchase nudges | Morning | Marketing |
| Diwali run-up | Late Oct – 7 Nov | Early-bird offers, gift guides, delivery cut-off dates | 10–14 days before Diwali | Marketing |
| Diwali | Sun 8 Nov | Pure greeting, no hard sell | Morning of Diwali or the evening before | Marketing |
| Post-Diwali | After Diwali | Thank-you notes, New Year (Saal Mubarak) wishes for Gujarati customers | Within a few days | Marketing |
| Order and delivery updates | Throughout | Order confirmed, shipped, delivered | Triggered by the order | Utility |
A sensible rule of thumb: send no more than one promotional message per customer per week during the season. Customers get festive messages from every brand they’ve ever bought from, and the fastest way to lose a list is to be the fifth message of the day.

Diwali offer messages for WhatsApp
Use these in the run-up to Diwali, not on the day. Each one has one offer, one deadline and one action. On the API, the action becomes a button, so the text doesn’t need a long link.
Hi Priya, Diwali shopping starts early at Kalash Home Decor ✨

Put the delivery cut-off in the message
The most useful line in a pre-Diwali offer is often the logistics one: "order by 3 November for delivery before Diwali." It answers the question customers would otherwise message you about, and it creates urgency you don't have to invent.
Navratri WhatsApp messages for business
Navratri is nine nights, so there’s room for a greeting, an event invite and an offer on different days. In Gujarat especially, garba nights make event invitations popular.
- [Name], Shubh Navratri from all of us at [Business]! May these nine nights bring energy, devotion and joy to your family.
- Happy Navratri, [Name]! May Maa Durga bless your home with strength and happiness. Thank you for being with [Business].
- [Name], the dandiya season is here! Our Navratri collection of chaniya cholis and kediyas is now in store at [Business]. Visit before [date].

- [Name], our Navratri thali is back for nine days only. Order before [time] for same-evening delivery. — [Business]
- Jai Mata Di, [Name]! May this Navratri bring peace and prosperity to your home. Warm wishes from [Business].

Dussehra wishes for customers
Dussehra falls on Tuesday 20 October 2026, straight after Navratri. Keep it short, because customers have just had nine days of messages.
- Happy Dussehra, [Name]! May good always win in your life. Warm wishes from [Business].
- [Name], on Vijayadashami, may every new beginning bring you success. Thank you for being with [Business].
- Wishing you a victorious Dussehra, [Name]. May the year ahead be full of courage and good news. — [Business]
- [Name], Dussehra is traditionally a good day for new purchases. If a [product] has been on your list, today’s a lovely day to bring it home. — [Business]
- Happy Dussehra from all of us, [Name]. Thank you for a wonderful Navratri season at [Business].

Diwali and Navratri wishes in Gujarati
For businesses in Ahmedabad, Surat, Vadodara, Rajkot and across Gujarat, a Gujarati greeting often gets more replies than an English one, especially during Navratri. After Diwali, Gujarati customers also celebrate Bestu Varas (the Gujarati New Year) with “Saal Mubarak”, which is worth its own short message.
- પ્રિય [Name], આ વર્ષે અમારા પર વિશ્વાસ રાખવા બદલ આભાર. આપને અને આપના પરિવારને દિવાળીની હાર્દિક શુભેચ્છાઓ. — [Business]
- [Name], દીવાઓનો પ્રકાશ આપના ઘરમાં સુખ, શાંતિ અને સમૃદ્ધિ લાવે. શુભ દીપાવલી! — ટીમ [Business]
- [Name], નવરાત્રિની હાર્દિક શુભકામનાઓ! માતાજી આપના પરિવાર પર હંમેશા કૃપા રાખે. — [Business]

- [Name], નવરાત્રિના નવ દિવસ અમારી દુકાન રાત્રે [11] વાગ્યા સુધી ખુલ્લી રહેશે. આરતી પછી આરામથી ખરીદી કરો. — [Business]
- [Name], દિવાળીની ખરીદી વહેલી શરૂ કરો! [date] સુધી ઓર્ડર કરો અને દિવાળી પહેલાં ડિલિવરી મેળવો. — [Business]
- [Name], સાલ મુબારક! નવું વર્ષ આપના માટે આરોગ્ય, આનંદ અને પ્રગતિ લાવે. — [Business] પરિવાર

Have a native speaker check before you submit
Treat the Hindi and Gujarati lines above as starting points. Have a native speaker who knows your customers read them before you submit them to Meta. Regional usage varies, and a greeting that sounds natural in Ahmedabad may sound stiff in Mumbai.
Diwali greetings for clients, distributors and partners
B2B relationships run on WhatsApp in India, from textile traders in Surat to distributors across the country. These messages are more formal, and they work best without any offer at all.
- Dear [Name], thank you for a year of dependable partnership. On behalf of [Business], we wish you, your team and your family a prosperous Diwali.
- [Name] ji, your support helped [Business] grow this year. May this Diwali bring your business steady growth and your home great happiness.
- Dear [Name], wishing you a bright Diwali and a New Year of new markets and strong orders. We look forward to working together in [year]. — [Business]
- [Name], thank you for your trust and timely payments this year; it means a great deal to a growing business like ours. Happy Diwali from [Business].
- Dear [Name], please note our Diwali holiday schedule: our office is closed from [date] to [date], and orders placed by [date] ship before the break. Warm Diwali wishes from [Business].
- [Name], may Goddess Lakshmi bless your business with prosperity this Diwali and in the year ahead. With regards, [Business].
The holiday-schedule message (#62) is arguably informational, but if it carries greetings Meta will still treat it as marketing. Send the schedule on its own if you want it read as a service update.
Short wishes for WhatsApp status and quick replies
Short lines work as your business WhatsApp status, or as a quick reply when a customer wishes you first. Replies inside an open 24-hour window don’t need a template.
- Happy Diwali from [Business]! 🪔
- Shubh Navratri to all our customers! 🙏
- Wishing you light, love and laddoos. Happy Diwali! — [Business]
- Thank you for wishing us, [Name]! Happy Diwali to you and your family too. 🪔
- Saal Mubarak from all of us at [Business]!
- Our store is closed on [date] for Diwali. Back on [date]. Happy Diwali!
- Thank you for a wonderful festive season, [Name]. See you in the New Year! — [Business]
How to send festive wishes on WhatsApp, step by step
Sending one wish to one customer is easy. Sending it to 5,000 customers without getting blocked, flagged or overcharged takes a process. Here is the one we recommend on the WhatsApp Business API, in ChatMitra or any other official provider.
- Clean your list. Keep only customers who gave you their number and agreed to hear from you. WhatsApp’s Business Messaging Policy requires opt-in, and it requires you to honour every opt-out, on or off WhatsApp.
- Segment it. Split by language (English, Hindi, Gujarati), by city and by past purchases. A Surat customer who bought chaniya cholis last year should get a different Navratri message than a Delhi customer who bought corporate gifts.
- Write and submit your templates early. Create each message as a marketing template with variables for the name and offer, plus a button if you have a link. Submit at least a week before you need it; Meta’s review can take up to 24 hours per template, and a rejection means rewriting and resubmitting. In ChatMitra you do this in WhatsApp Templates.
- Add a clear opt-out line to promotional templates. “Reply STOP to stop festive offers” reduces blocks, because unhappy customers have an easier option than the block button.
- Schedule by segment. Send greetings in the morning or early evening, and stagger large lists. Use broadcast scheduling so the send happens on time even if your team is busy with festival footfall.
- Staff for replies. Festive broadcasts trigger questions like “is this available in red?” or “do you deliver to Navsari?”. Decide who answers them and give each agent a role in the shared inbox, and set an away message for after hours.
- Measure and retarget. Check delivered, read and replied numbers the next morning, then send a gentle follow-up only to people who read but didn’t act. ChatMitra’s campaign analytics show these per broadcast.

WhatsApp Business app vs WhatsApp Business API for festive campaigns
| WhatsApp Business app (broadcast lists) | WhatsApp Business API (via a provider) | |
|---|---|---|
| Who receives it | Only contacts who have saved your number | Any opted-in customer, saved or not |
| Message format | Free text, images | Approved templates with variables, media and buttons |
| Personalisation | Manual | Name, offer and city filled automatically |
| Scheduling | No | Yes |
| Analytics | Basic ticks per chat | Delivered, read and replied per campaign |
| Team replies | One phone, limited linked devices | Shared inbox with multiple agents |
| Cost | Free app | Meta's per-message rate plus the provider's fee |
If you send to a few dozen loyal customers who all have your number saved, the free app is fine. Beyond that, you need the API for reach, personalisation and a shared inbox.
What a festive WhatsApp campaign costs in 2026
Here is the arithmetic, using Meta’s official India rate card (₹0.8631 per delivered marketing message, effective 1 July 2026 and unchanged on the 1 October 2026 card) and ChatMitra’s published pricing. ChatMitra charges its ₹0.20 fee once per contact per 24-hour conversation, not per message.
| Customers messaged | Meta charge | ChatMitra fee (Starter) | Total (Starter) | Messages only on Enterprise* |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 500 | ₹431.55 | ₹100.00 | ₹531.55 | ₹431.55 |
| 2,000 | ₹1,726.20 | ₹400.00 | ₹2,126.20 | ₹1,726.20 |
| 10,000 | ₹8,631.00 | ₹2,000.00 | ₹10,631.00 | ₹8,631.00 |
*Enterprise has no ChatMitra platform fee and costs ₹2,499/month (regularly ₹2,999). Figures assume every message is delivered; Meta charges only for delivered messages. Rates verified on 24 September 2026 against Meta’s published INR rate card.
What changes on 1 October 2026: your free-form replies to customers inside the 24-hour window become billable service messages at ₹0.1150 each, after a free tier of 1,000 service messages per business phone number per month. Utility templates sent inside the window, such as an order confirmation after a customer replies “yes”, are also charged from that date. A shop answering a few hundred festive replies a month stays inside the free tier. For a 10,000-customer Diwali blast that triggers 3,000 replies, about 2,000 replies would be billable, roughly ₹230. It’s small, but it should be in your budget. For the full breakdown, see our October 2026 service message pricing update, or run your own numbers in the pricing calculator.
Common mistakes that get festive messages blocked
- Messaging people who never opted in. Bought lists and scraped numbers lead to blocks and reports, and WhatsApp’s systems may limit how many messages a business can send based on that feedback.
- Submitting greetings as utility. Festive wishes are marketing. Miscategorised templates get rejected or reclassified, often right when you need them.
- Sending on the day you get approval. Leave time for a rejection and a resubmission before your send date.
- Three messages a week. Sending too often is one of the quickest ways to turn a loyal customer into a blocker.
- A wall of emojis and capitals. 🪔 once is festive. Eight fireworks and “MEGA SALE!!!” read like spam.
- No way to opt out. A “reply STOP” line costs nothing and saves your quality rating.
- Forgetting the reply load. A campaign that works creates conversations. Plan who answers, and after 1 October, budget for service messages beyond the first 1,000 free each month.
Best practices from Indian festive campaigns
- Greet first, sell later. Send a pure greeting on Diwali day and keep offers for the run-up.
- Use the customer’s language. Gujarati in Gujarat, Hindi across the Hindi belt, English for national lists, and always check with a native speaker.
- Make the button do the work. “See the collection”, “Book a slot” or “Reply YES” converts better than a long URL in the text.
- Mention logistics. Delivery cut-offs, store timings during Navratri and holiday closures are the details customers actually need.
- Reuse what worked. Save your best-performing festive templates so next year starts from proven copy. Our promotional template library has more ideas. Our broadcast message examples cover the rest of the year.
Summary
Festive messages work on WhatsApp because they arrive in the same app as family greetings, and that’s also why they have to sound like family and not like a flyer. Pick from the 70 wishes above, personalise the first line, send one idea per message, submit your marketing templates a week early and stay within a sensible frequency. Budget about ₹1.06 per customer on ChatMitra’s Starter or Pro plan, and from 1 October 2026 remember that replies beyond 1,000 per number each month cost ₹0.1150 each.
