Sound Familiar?
From a one-person shop to a 12-agent team — the same answers, typed again and again.
Anil runs a hardware shop in Rajkot alone. Fifty WhatsApp messages a day, mostly "what's the price?" and "are you open?". He types the same three lines so often he sees them in his sleep.
Save them as /price and /hours. Two keystrokes instead of two minutes.
Meera's D2C skincare brand has a 3-person support team. Each one explains the return policy slightly differently. Customers get confused, and the team wastes time rewording the same paragraph.
One saved /returns reply means one correct answer, every time.
A travel agency runs a 12-agent inbox during peak season. New joiners don't know the "approved" wording for packages and refunds, so seniors keep getting pulled in to check messages.
Shared quick replies turn day-one hires into confident responders.
What Is a WhatsApp Quick Reply?
A WhatsApp quick reply is a saved message you drop into a chat in one or two keystrokes. You give it a short shortcut — like /price or /hours — and write the full message once. While chatting, you type /, pick the reply, and it fills your text box, ready to edit and send.
People also call these saved replies or canned responses. In Chat Mitra they're shared across your whole team, so everyone answers with the same correct wording — without retyping or copy-paste.
Part 1: Save a Quick Reply
Set it up once in Settings. A shortcut, a message, save — done. Here's exactly what you'll see.
Open Quick Reply
In your Chat Mitra dashboard, go to Settings and open the Quick Reply tab.
Every saved reply for your team lives in one place — create, edit, and delete from here.
Write a Shortcut + Message
Pick a short shortcut like welcome, price or hours. Write the full message below it. Click 'Save quick reply'.
The shortcut is your memory hook. The message is exactly what gets dropped into the chat. Up to 4096 characters.
letters, numbers, _ and - only. Stored as lowercase.
Hi! Thanks for reaching out. How can I help?
44/4096
It's Saved & Shared
Your reply appears in the list instantly — and every agent on your team can use it right away.
No re-uploading, no per-device setup. One person saves it, the whole team gets it.
Part 2: Use It in a Live Chat
Now the payoff. Mid-conversation, your saved replies are one slash away.
Type / in the Chat
Open any customer conversation in your team inbox. In the message box, type a forward slash (/) as the first character.
Same muscle memory as the WhatsApp Business app — but now it works on the official API, on any browser, for your whole team.
Hi, what are your prices?
Pick from the List
A list pops up above the message box. Keep typing to filter, use the arrow keys to move, and press Enter to pick one.
Find the right reply in one or two keystrokes — even if you've saved a hundred of them.
↑ ↓ to move · Enter to pick · Esc to close
Edit if Needed, Send
The full message fills your text box. Add a name, tweak a line, or send it as-is.
It's a starting point, not a locked template. You stay in control of every message that goes out.
Tweaked the name, then sent. You stay in control.
Add or Fix One Without Leaving
Tap 'Edit' on the popup to open the side panel. Add a new reply or fix an old one mid-conversation.
Customer asks something new? Save your answer as a quick reply on the spot — it's there for next time.

WhatsApp App Quick Replies vs Chat Mitra
The WhatsApp Business app has quick replies too. Here's honestly where Chat Mitra takes them further.
Why It Pays for Itself
No adjectives. Just minutes saved and customers kept.
An agent answering 100 chats a day retypes the same lines dozens of times. Quick replies turn each one into two keystrokes.
Everyone sends the same correct price, policy and timing. No "my agent said something different" complaints.
Quick Reply comes with Chat Mitra Pro — along with Auto Reply, AI Chatbot, API and Webhooks. Less than a day's chai for the team.
Small shop or big team — same win. A solo owner stops losing evenings to repetitive typing. A growing team onboards new agents in a day, because the right answers are already saved and shared.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is a WhatsApp quick reply?
A WhatsApp quick reply is a saved message you can drop into a chat in one or two keystrokes. You give it a short shortcut — like /price or /hours — and write the full message once. Then, while chatting with a customer, you type a forward slash, pick the reply, and the message fills your text box. You can edit it and send. It saves you from typing the same answers over and over.
How do I set up quick replies in Chat Mitra?
Log into your Chat Mitra dashboard, go to Settings, and open the Quick Reply tab. Type a shortcut (letters, numbers, underscore or hyphen — it's stored in lowercase), write your message in the box below, and click 'Save quick reply'. It appears in your saved list instantly and becomes available to your whole team. The whole thing takes under a minute per reply.
Is this the same as quick replies in the WhatsApp Business app?
It works the same way — you type a forward slash and pick a saved message — so there's nothing new to learn. The difference is reach. The free WhatsApp Business app caps you at 50 quick replies, keeps them on a single phone, and doesn't share them with anyone else. Chat Mitra runs on the official WhatsApp Business API, so your quick replies are shared across your whole team, work from any browser, and have no practical cap.
Can my whole team share the same quick replies?
Yes. When one person saves a quick reply, every agent on that WhatsApp number can use it right away. That's the point — your team answers with the same correct wording for prices, policies, timings and offers, whether the customer reaches a senior agent or someone who joined last week.
Do quick replies support variables, images or attachments?
Today, quick replies are plain text only — a shortcut and a message, up to 4096 characters. There are no auto-filled variables, no images and no file attachments. You can still personalise on the fly: pick the reply, type the customer's name or change a line, then send. If you need media or buttons, WhatsApp Templates and Auto Reply are the right tools for that.
How many quick replies can I create?
There's no practical limit. Most businesses start with 10 to 20 covering their most common questions — price, timings, location, delivery, returns — and add more over time. Because you can filter by typing after the slash, a long list is still fast to search.
How is Quick Reply different from Auto Reply?
Auto Reply sends messages automatically, with no human involved — a customer types a keyword or messages after hours, and Chat Mitra replies on its own. Quick Reply is the opposite: a real agent is chatting, and quick replies just save them from retyping. Use Auto Reply for hands-off automation, and Quick Reply to make your live agents faster. Most teams use both.
How much do quick replies cost?
Quick Reply is part of the Chat Mitra Pro plan at ₹999 per month, which also includes Auto Reply, AI Chatbot, API access and Webhooks. Both Starter and Pro charge ₹0.20 per conversation plus Meta's standard rates. There's a 15-day free trial, no credit card needed, so you can test it with your real team before paying.
Do I have to type the whole shortcut every time?
No. Type the slash and just the first few letters — the list filters as you go. Use the arrow keys to highlight the one you want and press Enter. Press Escape any time to close the list and keep typing a normal message.
Stop Retyping. Start Sending.
Set up your first quick replies in minutes and share them with your whole team. Start your 15-day free trial — no credit card needed.
