Why ChatMitra
Most Indian competitors start at ₹1,500–₹5,000 a month and charge extra for chatbots, API access and integrations.
Listed in Meta's partner directory — not a reseller working off a shared number.
One platform fee per conversation. Meta's rates pass through at cost, and Enterprise waives the fee entirely.
No separate add-on bill. The builder, AI replies and lead flows are all part of ₹999.
Add your whole team on Pro without a per-seat charge.
Rejected by Meta? We rewrite and resubmit it for you, included in the plan.
Most businesses are sending on the third working day from documents to first message.
The account sits under your own Meta portfolio. Leave whenever you like and keep everything.
Monthly, quarterly or yearly billing. No minimum term and no exit charge.
Ranked for Kolkata
Same platform in every city. What changes is which features earn their keep, so this list is ordered by what actually moves the needle for Kolkata.
Pre-approved campaign templates and lifted send pacing for a defined date range, then back to baseline.
Why Kolkata: Puja compresses a season's worth of ordering into roughly ten days. An account that averages 40,000 conversations a month can need half of that inside a single week, which is a throughput problem rather than a budgeting one.
Worked example A sweet shop chain with eleven outlets sends 26,000 pre-order and slot-confirmation messages between Mahalaya and Dashami, then returns to about 1,200 a week for the rest of October.
Keep the same notification approved in Bengali, Hindi and English, and pick the variant from a contact attribute at send time.
Why Kolkata: Bengali is the default here rather than an accommodation, while the Burrabazar trading base runs in Hindi. One account routinely needs the same message in both, and each language is a separate Meta approval that has to exist before the day you need it.
Worked example A diagnostics chain keeps one report-ready notice in three languages under one template name, and selects on the language field captured at registration.
Send a PDF report or discharge summary as a real attachment inside the thread, triggered from your HIS.
Why Kolkata: When a large share of patients have travelled in from another state, the report cannot wait at a collection counter. Delivering the document itself is the difference between a completed episode of care and a phone call three days later.
Worked example A pathology lab pushes 900 reports a day straight from its LIS, and the number of counter-collection calls it receives falls to a fraction of what a portal link produced.
Store and message contacts on non-Indian country codes, with per-country template and opt-in handling.
Why Kolkata: The referral catchment reaches beyond the eastern states, and a hospital list here regularly holds numbers registered in another country. Those contacts have different template rules and different delivery economics that need to be visible before a send, not after the invoice.
Worked example An admissions desk keeps its Bangladesh referrals on a separate list so those conversations are priced and reported apart from the domestic book.
Check the legal name on the GST certificate against the display name you want, and prepare the supporting proof before submission.
Why Kolkata: Proprietorships and HUFs trading out of Burrabazar and Posta usually operate under a market name that the certificate never mentions. Meta verifies the document, so a mismatch stalls the application with a message that does not explain itself.
Worked example A wholesale house trading for four decades under a family market name submits its proprietorship certificate plus trade-name proof together, and clears verification on the first attempt.
Fire messages from your hospital, lab or lending system, and write every delivery event back to it.
Why Kolkata: A report becoming ready and an instalment falling due are both events inside software. Nobody in a Sector V servicing floor or an EM Bypass lab is going to open a dashboard and press send several thousand times a day.
One number, unlimited agents, chat assignment, internal notes, and history that survives a handover.
Why Kolkata: An admissions desk and a collections floor both answer against a single published number across shifts, so a thread has to carry its own context when it moves between people mid-conversation.
No-code flow builder plus AI answers drawn from your own tariff sheet, timing list or policy document.
Why Kolkata: Festival ordering and patient queries both arrive well outside office hours, and a family calling from another state is often working to a different day entirely.
Products inside WhatsApp with images, prices and variants, so a customer browses without leaving the thread.
Useful everywhere. Works identically in every market. Genuinely useful for the food accounts here, but nothing about it is local.
Run a whole list from one spreadsheet — edit a row and WhatsApp reflects it.
Useful everywhere. Entirely universal, and on every plan.
Delivery, read and reply rates updating live mid-send, split by campaign and by template.
Useful everywhere. Useful anywhere. Nothing about it belongs to this city.
Ranking comes from the city data file — swap the city and this order changes. Features marked “useful everywhere” are flagged on purpose: claiming every one is Kolkata-specific is what makes a page read as templated.

Straight answer
No. The WhatsApp Business API is delivered from Meta's cloud, so your provider's office location has no effect on delivery speed, uptime or message cost.
Every provider ranking for this search resells the same Meta Cloud API. What genuinely differs by location is narrower — and worth knowing before you sign:
Those four things are exactly what the next section covers for Kolkata.
The part that changes with the city
The English version being approved does not approve the বাংলা one — it is a separate submission and a separate review.
Bengali is not a courtesy language here the way a regional language often is elsewhere — it is the default, and an English-only template reads as a message from an outsider. Hindi earns its place for a different reason: the Burrabazar and Posta trading houses run largely in Hindi with a supplier and buyer base spread across the eastern states. The practical result is that a single Kolkata account frequently keeps the same notification approved twice, and picks between them off the contact's own list rather than off any guess about the city.
Languages we support for Kolkata: English, Bengali, Hindi.
The split hides a seasonal swing wider than the annual average suggests. For ten months the mix leans heavily into utility, because the largest accounts are hospitals and financial servicing floors sending notices to people who already have a relationship with them. Then the Puja fortnight arrives, marketing briefly overtakes everything else across the food and retail book, and the annual figure lands somewhere neither half of the year actually looks like.
West Bengal registrations carry state code 19, and the friction here is almost never the code — it is the trade name. A very large share of Kolkata accounts are proprietorships and HUFs trading out of Burrabazar and Posta under a market name that appears nowhere on the GST certificate. Meta verifies the legal name on the document, so if the shopfront name is what you want on the WhatsApp profile, expect to submit supporting proof of the trade name alongside the certificate rather than instead of it.
One festival dominates the calendar more completely than anywhere else we operate. Volume climbs from Mahalaya, peaks across the Puja days, and stays elevated through Lakshmi Puja, Kali Puja and Bhai Phonta before falling away in late November. A second, smaller rise comes at Poila Boishakh in April. Between December and March the same accounts run at a fraction of their October load, so capacity planned against an annual average will be wrong in both directions.
Business districts we see most Kolkata volume from: Salt Lake Sector V, New Town Rajarhat, Park Street, Burrabazar, EM Bypass, Bhowanipore, Howrah, Behala.
Real numbers
| Business | What they send | Conversations | Meta | ₹0.20 fee | Pro plan | Monthly total |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Sweet shop chain, Bhowanipore | Puja pre-order windows, slot confirmations and pickup reminders | 48,000 | ₹25,100 | ₹9,600 | ₹917 | ₹35,617 |
| Multi-speciality hospital, EM Bypass | Appointment confirmations, report links and follow-up scheduling | 62,000 | ₹9,100 | ₹12,400 | ₹917 | ₹22,417 |
| NBFC servicing floor, Salt Lake Sector V | EMI reminders, one-time passcodes and payment links | 85,000 | ₹14,500 | ₹17,000 | ₹917 | ₹32,417 |
Which category you send matters more than how much you send — marketing costs almost eight times what authentication does. At these volumes all three would save money on Enterprise, where the ₹0.20 fee disappears.

Sector fit
The food business here has a spike no other market produces. A mishti chain that takes steady counter orders for eleven months converts almost entirely to advance booking in the ten days around Puja, and the same happens again at Poila Boishakh and Bhai Phonta. Volume does not rise gently into a festive season — it steps up by an order of magnitude and then drops back, which is a capacity question long before it is a marketing one.
Festival pre-order windows, slot confirmations, pickup reminders and same-day dispatch alerts
WhatsApp for Restaurants, sweet shops & food chains →Kolkata is the referral hospital for a region far larger than the state. A meaningful share of patients along the EM Bypass corridor have travelled from Bihar, Jharkhand, Assam or across the border, and they are not going to walk back in for a report. That makes the message itself the deliverable — a report link, a follow-up date, a pre-admission checklist reaching somebody who is now several hundred kilometres away.
Appointment confirmations, report-ready links, follow-up scheduling and pre-admission checklists
WhatsApp for Hospitals & diagnostic chains →Salt Lake Sector V holds an unusual concentration of servicing operations rather than sales floors — collections, policy renewals and claims teams handling books that belong to customers spread across the whole eastern region. The messaging that comes out of it is high volume, entirely permission-based, and judged on whether a payment link opened rather than on whether anyone was persuaded.
EMI and renewal reminders, one-time passcodes, claim status updates and payment links
WhatsApp for NBFCs, insurance & financial back-offices →Buyer's checklist

Start Free TrialFor almost any account with a consumer base here, yes. Bengali is the default language of the city rather than a regional accommodation, and an English-only notification reads as though it came from somewhere else. The exception is the Burrabazar and Posta trading book, which runs largely in Hindi with buyers across the eastern states. Plenty of accounts need Bengali and Hindi approved side by side and route between them off a contact attribute. Each language is a separate Meta approval, so get them submitted before the festival window rather than during it.
It is the most common cause of a stalled application here. A large share of Burrabazar and Posta businesses are proprietorships or HUFs operating under a market name the certificate never mentions, and Meta verifies the legal name on whichever document you upload. You do not have to abandon the trading name — submit the certificate along with proof of the trade name, and expect display-name review to take an extra round. Sorting this out before you apply saves considerably more time than fixing it afterwards.
Treat it as a throughput question rather than a budget one. Get every campaign template approved before Mahalaya, because approval queues do not speed up because your season has started. Raise send pacing for the specific date range instead of leaving it raised year round, and split the list so pre-order and pickup notices do not compete with each other on the same evening. Accounts that plan this two weeks ahead clear the window comfortably; accounts that plan it the week before spend it waiting on template review.
There are two bills. Meta charges per conversation — roughly ₹0.86 marketing, ₹0.11 utility and ₹0.11 authentication, with replies inside an open 24-hour window free. ChatMitra adds a flat ₹0.20 platform fee per conversation on Starter and Pro. Starter has free subscription, Pro is ₹999 a month, and Enterprise is ₹2,999 a month (₹2,000 billed yearly) which removes the ₹0.20 fee entirely.
No. The API is delivered from Meta's cloud, so your provider's office location has no effect on delivery speed, uptime or message cost. What genuinely differs locally is which languages your templates need approval in, which GST state your entity is registered in, whether support hours cover your working day, and whether the provider understands your sector's message mix.
A conversation is a 24-hour window that opens the moment either you or your customer sends the first message. Inside that window you can exchange as many messages as you like and pay only one ₹0.20 platform fee plus Meta's category charge. Service conversations — the ones your customer starts, answered inside the open window — are free on both bills.
A GST certificate or Certificate of Incorporation, company PAN, a live website, an email on your company domain, and a dedicated phone number that isn't already running WhatsApp. Udyam registration works in place of GST for MSMEs. West Bengal businesses use GST state code 19.
No. The AI Chatbot is included in the Pro plan at ₹999 a month — the builder, AI responses, lead qualification flows and round-the-clock automated support, with no separate add-on fee. Most Indian competitors bill the chatbot on top of the subscription.
Yes, if you first delete the WhatsApp Business app account on it. That deletes the chat history on that number, so export anything you need first. Many businesses start on a new number and migrate later once the account is stable.
No. DLT is a TRAI requirement for SMS in India and does not apply to WhatsApp. WhatsApp uses Meta's own template approval process instead, which reviews message content and category rather than registering your sender identity.
No setup fee. No lock-in. Your own WhatsApp Business Account from day one, and a 15-day Pro trial without a card.

Most markets have a festive season. This one has a fortnight that rewrites the operating model.
From Mahalaya to Dashami, a food or retail account here stops taking orders the way it did all year and starts taking them almost entirely in advance, in windows, against slots it has to hold. A chain that spent September sending twelve hundred messages a week can need twenty thousand inside seven days, and none of them are optional — a pre-order that goes unconfirmed is a customer standing at a counter expecting a box that nobody set aside.
What that demands is unglamorous. Templates approved well before the window opens, because Meta’s review queue has no idea your season has begun. Send pacing raised for a defined date range rather than left permanently high. Lists split so the pickup reminders going out at six in the evening are not fighting the pre-order push aimed at the same people. The accounts that get through the fortnight cleanly are the ones that treated it as a capacity exercise in the third week of September.
Then it ends. By December the same account is back to a fraction of that volume, and anyone who sized their setup on the October figure is paying for headroom nobody is using.
The second thing that shapes messaging here has nothing to do with festivals.
Kolkata is where the eastern region comes for medical care. Along the EM Bypass corridor, a substantial share of patients have arrived from Bihar, Jharkhand, Assam, the North-East or across the border, and once they are discharged they are hundreds of kilometres away. The report cannot sit at a collection counter. The follow-up date cannot depend on somebody dropping in. The message stops being a notification and becomes the last part of the treatment that actually gets delivered.
That changes what a good account looks like. The document has to travel as an attachment rather than a link behind a login. The contact list holds numbers on country codes that price and behave differently, which is worth knowing before a send rather than after the invoice. And the person who needs the discharge summary is frequently not the patient at all — it is a family member who never came to the city.
One practical thing worth doing on day one. West Bengal’s state code is 19 and the code is rarely where an application goes wrong. The name is.
Walk through Burrabazar or Posta and most of what you see are proprietorships and HUFs trading under names that have been over the shopfront for two or three generations and appear on no government document anywhere. Meta verifies the legal name printed on the certificate you upload. Submitting the certificate and expecting the market name to appear on the WhatsApp profile produces a rejection that explains nothing, and the fix — submitting trade-name proof alongside it — takes five minutes if you do it first and a week if you do it second.
